About Us

Kandice Kelley and John Peterson have been together for over 30 years. During that time they held down jobs as flight attendants and were often relocated around the country. Each time they moved, they used their considerable construction experience, John being a general contractor - on renovation projects. Before making the final move to Nevada County they were juggling 3 projects in Ann Arbor, Michigan just to raise the money for the move. Their goal was to move to California so they could take on larger and more complex projects.

Throughout their last 15 years of flying they would work on their projects, Monday through Thursday and then drop their tool belts, don their flight attendant uniforms and fly back and forth to Asia over the weekend. This paid for the construction costs of the projects.

Finally, in 1998 they had completed their dream historical project in down town Grass Valley, California. The decision to design the professional office space for the booming Internet technology sector with high speed Internet access put them ahead of other commercial buildings in the area and attracted a whole new breed of entrepreneurs as renters.

John and Kandice credit local technology and design wizard Clark Staves for setting them on the right track for creating the infrastructure that is still in place, (after countless upgrades) today.

Since its renovation the “Old Grass Valley Hardware Building” has become the place to locate for anyone wanting more than the stock office cube. We tend to attract the entrepreneurs who are looking for something different in their work environment. We also firmly believe in “hands on” landlord / tenant relationships.

“Once you’re in this building we do everything possible to assist you in being a success”. This simple yet consuming philosophy has provided us with occupancy rates in excess of 90% over the last 10 years. “The diversity of tenants has been our saving grace in these challenging years”.
